Traveling Electrician - Controls & Programming Experience

Position Overview
- We are seeking a highly skilled Traveling Electrician with Controls & Programming experience to support industrial and field-based projects across multiple locations. This role is ideal for a problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments, is comfortable with travel, and has hands-on experience working with electrical systems, PLCs, and automation controls.

You will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, programming, and maintaining electrical and control systems while working closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams in the field.

Key Responsibilities
- Electrical & Field Work

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems (480V, 240V, 120V)

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints

Perform diagnostics and repairs on motors, VFDs, MCCs, panels, sensors, and instrumentation

Ensure compliance with NEC, MSHA/OSHA, and site-specific safety standards

Support new equipment installs, system upgrades, and commissioning

Controls & Programming

Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and control systems

Work with HMI interfaces, alarms, and system logic

Diagnose control faults and optimize system performance

Assist with automation improvements and reliability initiatives

Collaborate with engineers on system design and programming changes

Required Qualifications
- Journeyman or Master Electrician experience (license preferred where applicable)

3+ years of industrial electrical experience

Hands-on PLC programming or troubleshooting experience

Strong understanding of industrial controls and automation systems

Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics

Willingness and ability to travel extensively

Valid driver's license

Preferred Experience (Not Required, But Highly Valued)

PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider

HMI software (Factory Talk, WinCC, Ignition, etc.)

VFDs and motor control systems

Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial environments (heights, confined spaces, variable weather)

Ability to lift over 50 lbs.

Comfortable working long shifts, weekends when required
