Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Description

Robert Half is looking for a skilled Accountant to join our team in Winchester, Kentucky. In this role, you will oversee essential accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, and grant-related activities within a public sector environment. This is a Long-term Contract position ideal for individuals with a background in municipal or grant-funded accounting.

Responsibilities:

- Manage general ledger activities, including preparing journal entries, conducting reconciliations, and ensuring a smooth month-end close process.

- Handle accounting tasks related to government grants, subsidies, and restricted funding to ensure proper allocation and compliance.

- Generate detailed financial reports for internal teams and external agencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

- Monitor budgets and conduct variance analyses to support efficient program and grant management.

- Assist with annual audits, addressing auditor inquiries and providing necessary documentation.

- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards, funding requirements, and internal controls across all accounting processes.

- Collaborate with program staff to address financial queries and improve reporting accuracy.

- Work directly with the Executive Director to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public sector, government, or grant-funded accounting.

- Proficiency in accounting software such as Tenmas, Yardi, or comparable systems.

- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including skills in reconciliations and financial reporting.

- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

- Familiarity with compliance-driven environments and regulatory requirements.

- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and bank reconciliations.
