School Shop Manager

Part time

Wimborne, Dorset

Hours : 20 hours per week, Term time only plus additional weeks in school holidays

Salary : £14,547 per annum based on a FTE salary of £32,000 per annum

Position Overview

Founded in 1923, Canford School is set in 250 acres of inspirational parkland on the outskirts of Wimborne in Dorset. The school, which has some 660 pupils aged 13-18, is amongst the country's top co-educational boarding and day schools.

Responsibilities
  • Efficient and effective operation of the on‑site shop, providing school uniform, stationery, merchandise, and textbooks.
  • Daily operations, stock control, sales performance and budget oversight.
  • Manage opening hours (Mon‑Fri 8.00‑1.30), extended hours during key periods and increased hours over holidays.
  • Line manage a small team, providing coaching, direction and performance feedback.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to pupils, parents and staff.
Qualifications
  • Experience in retail management or a similar customer‑facing leadership role.
  • Strong financial awareness and confidence managing payment transactions.
  • Proactive leader, strong team player, adaptable and organized.
  • Capacity to work flexible hours during peak periods.
