Controller

Location: On-site, 5 days/week

Address: Wilton, CT

Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Compensation: Up to $130,000 base DOE

Position Overview

A confidential, family‑owned organization is seeking a hands‑on Controller (or strong Assistant Controller ready to step up) to serve as the operational right hand to the CFO. This role owns day‑to‑day accounting operations and leads transactional accounting across a multi‑location environment that includes U.S. showrooms and a domestic manufacturing operation.

The ideal candidate thrives in a lean, collaborative environment and is comfortable balancing technical accounting ownership with team leadership and operational support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee full‑cycle accounting operations and monthly close
  • Prepare and review financial statements in partnership with the CFO
  • Manage Quick Books, including invoicing, sales reporting, and transaction oversight
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate the accounting team’s workflows
  • Oversee AP, AR, collections, and cash flow management
  • Support operational and system efficiency initiatives
  • Provide financial support across multiple business locations
  • Contribute broadly within a small‑company environment as needed
Team Structure

Direct management of three accounting professionals across multiple locations with strong cross‑coverage and collaboration.

Qualifications — Required
  • Strong hands‑on accounting and close experience
  • Proven financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Deep understanding of debits/credits and cash flow management
  • Experience managing AP/AR and collections functions
  • Quick Books Enterprise proficiency
  • Leadership experience with small accounting teams
  • Ability to operate effectively in a lean, multi‑hat environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or Master’s degree
  • Experience supporting multi‑location operations
  • Background in small to mid‑sized organizations
  • Exposure to systems or process improvement initiatives
