Job Summary

We are looking for a Grocery Clerk to join our Fred Meyer team. The role involves creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and assisting the department manager with sales and profit goals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards.
  • Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
  • Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered, review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action, and label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
  • Inform customers of dairy specials, offer product samples to help customers discover new items, and answer questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness, review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action, and maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, reinforce safety programs, and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager and report all safety risks, or issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads, and promote trust and respect among associates.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
  • Report accidents and notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
