RN - Behavioral Health PRN - ;
Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Services, and according to established policies and procedures, coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, acts as a patient/family advocate, and works with other nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Work is of a very confidential nature. Performs other duties of the department as required.

The ED Behavioral Health Nurse will evaluate each patient arriving into the emergency department (ED) with a psychiatric chief complaint or a suspicion of psychiatric complaint upon their arrival to the ED.

• Coordinate total nursing care for patients under general supervision of the Director, Clinical Services.
• Participate in patient and family teaching and act as a patient/family advocate.
• Collaborate with other nursing and ancillary personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Handle duties of the department as required; maintain confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of work.
• Evaluate patients arriving to the emergency department with psychiatric chief complaints or suspected psychiatric issues.

• Graduation from a Nursing Education program.
• Current NC or multistate RN licensure required.
• Ability to understand, communicate and react effectively to the unique needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients.
• Minimum of one year Behavioral Health Nursing required.
• CPR certification required and provided.
• ACLS preferred.
• CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required and provided; must be completed within one year of date of hire.
