** Description of Work
** Employees in this class are characterized by the performance of routine practical nursing work in the care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Professional Nurse or Nurse Supervisor. Employees in this class participate in nursing assessments, provide personal care of patients/inmates, take routine vital signs, feed patients, monitor intake and output, collect specimens, change aseptic dressings, deliver routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, stock supplies, admit patients, give routine medications and assist the Registered Nurse and Physician as needed.

*** Working knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, theory and practices.
* Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health and safety practices.

* Knowledge of observing and evaluating patient's condition.
* Knowledge of instructing patients in routine medical care.
** A Sign-on bonus of $4,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the Budget Approval.
**** Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
** To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.

* * eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
· The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
· The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency.
· DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

** Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC), located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520, LNMTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHER EVENTS OR OTHER EMERGENCIES.
