• The Hospice Chaplain is responsible for assisting patients and their families in meeting spiritual and emotional needs during the patient's illnesses. Supports staff members during times of stress and/or crisis. Works closely with volunteer chaplains and area churches. Hours worked are both scheduled, and, as needed, on-call
• Essential functions include providing spiritual/pastoral care to patients/families, documenting in the EMR, collaborating with local clergy, and supporting the plan of care as needed.
• Participates in Bereavement Care and Support to families and the community; facilitates memorial services and bereavement visits as determined appropriate by the IDG team.
• Supports staff in personal spiritual care, pastoral and bereavement care issues as needed.
• Demonstrates willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and growth for self and staff.
• Demonstrates a willingness to be cost effective in the use of agency resources and equipment.
• Adheres to 3HC's Personnel Policy and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Master of Divinity or Master of Religious Education from an accredited seminary preferred. Bachelors in a ministry related field required.
• Three to five years of pastoral care experience preferred.
• Ordination to Pastoral Ministry and denominational endorsement preferred
• Certification in Chaplaincy, chaplain experience or completion of at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or willingness to complete after hire preferred.
• Knowledge of grief process
• Public relations/speaking skills
• Knowledge of hospice philosophy, dying process, and bereavement and spirituality
