Position Description

The Roberts Company provides construction services in the open/merit shop arena. Tailored to fit our clients' project-specific needs, options are available through direct hire or subcontract strategies utilizing open-shop labor in support of EPC projects as well as construction-only work for markets across the country.

Roberts is seeking a Field Engineer for the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities in the Raleigh and Wilson areas.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides technical interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements, as well as general guidance to superintendents on overall design.

• Reviews, and maintains records associated with the work.

• Monitors assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract technical requirements.

• Monitors discipline construction activities for compliance with CPM schedule.
• Prepares and issues all discipline extra work authorization requests with the approval of the Project Field Manager.
• Completes quantity take-offs as required to support construction planning and invoice approval.
• Reviews all subcontractor progress payment requests for acceptance.
• Monitors technical service representative (supplier) daily logs and reviews/approves their timesheets.
• Compiles and maintains Conformed to Construction Records drawing and list markups by discipline and assigned subcontractors.
• Assists Field Quality Assurance Manager in performing inspections and verification of tests.
• Adheres to safety and quality standards as appropriate for level of duties and accountabilities.

• Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred with a minimal of 3 years experience on construction projects;
Will consider non-degree professional with 5+ years of construction experience in heavy industrial construction.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Basic skills in:

Major commercial and deliverable terms of the construction subcontracts.

Risk assessment/management

Administrative policies and procedures

Knowledge of project budget process and tools

Intermediate skills in:

Knowledge of construction technology

Knowledge of EPC industry

Constructability knowledge

Problem solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve)
