Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Summary

The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments. This role maintains financial records related to parts, service, and inventory while ensuring vendor accounts and statements are properly reconciled. The position plays a key role in maintaining internal controls, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with the dealership requirements.

• Process daily accounts payable functions, including invoice entry, purchase order matching, and check runs

• Review, verify, and reconcile vendor statements to ensure accurate and timely payments

• Maintain accurate vendor records and payment history within the dealership management system (DMS)

• Ensure vendor files are complete, current, and compliant with internal controls and manufacturer guidelines

• Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and audit preparation

• Collaborate with service, parts, and sales departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure accuracy

• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to handle high-volume transactions with accuracy

• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and serve as a resource to others

• Primarily an office setting within a car dealership or automotive organization

• Regular interaction with internal departments and external vendors

• Prior experience in automotive dealership accounting is a plus

• Demonstrated experience in accounts payable, preferably in a senior or lead role

• Proficiency with dealership management systems (CDK preferred)

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliations
