POSITION SUMMARY:

At the YMCA of Southeastern NC, our Wellness Coaches play a key role in helping members feel empowered, supported, and inspired in their wellness journeys. As a Wellness Coach, you'll create a welcoming and uplifting environment where individuals of all fitness levels can thrive. You'll provide expert guidance on healthy living, offer encouragement, and ensure a safe, enjoyable experience every step of the way.

Position Type: Part-time, non-exempt
Wage Range: $12.44 - $15.55/hr.
Responsibilities- Relationship building: create a welcoming environment; greet and assist members and prospective members; introduce members with similar interests to one another; respond to member questions and seek additional information when needed; thank members for allowing us to serve them.
- Monitor wellness areas, including locker room; provide orientations and assist members with workouts; check in members for classes.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
- Keep supplies organized; maintain and clean facility; care for equipment; ensure cleanliness of selectorized and free weight equipment; responsible for care, return, and storage of equipment; replenish wipe and hand sanitizer stations as needed; record maintenance duties to the Maintenance Director and HL Director/Supervisor; clean and vacuum all areas in the fitness/weight rooms and classroom studios.
- Engage in positive public relations with members and maintain professionalism at all times.
- Wear appropriate dress including closed-toed shoes; no hats and wear nametag while on duty.
- Kno ws all emergency procedures and be able to administer CPR/AED and first aid; follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
- Supervise and control occupancy and traffic flow on all equipment.
- Check on wellness orientations; confirm and reschedule when needed. Make follow-up calls for missed appointments and verify dates and times.
- Be a team player and attend staff meetings and trainings as required; maintain open communications with supervisor.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and inform Director of any breakage or items needing replacement.

- Must be 18 years of age. GED preferred.
- Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- At least one year of experience coaching preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate various cardio and strength equipment.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position: walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting a minimum of 45 lbs.
