Overview

The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is recruiting for a Facility Maint Tech-Mech Trade / HVAC Controls Technician. This position is located at the Main UNCW Campus in Facilities - 35200 College. It is a 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), permanent role with a 12-month schedule and Monday - Friday work days. • Analyzes building automation and control systems to achieve optimal operation or energy efficiency.
• Make recommendations for modifications based on analyzation of systems.
• Perform measurements, adjustments, and repairs to DDC, electrical, and pneumatic control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building control system devices and assist in preventive maintenance of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation equipment.
• This position is designated as mandatory personnel and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions and assist with snow, ice, and/or debris removal or HVAC issues in relation to adverse weather damage.

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

• 5 or more years documentable work experience in the controls industry.
• 5 or more years of experience in BAS installation & service as related to direct expansion & chilled/heated water HVAC systems.
• Manufacture training/certification on control systems;
  Tridium, Novar, York,
  CPC
  , Danfoss, etc.
• Working knowledge of pneumatic control systems.
• CFC universal certificate, types 1, 2 & 3.
• Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (
  BAS
  ), Energy Management Systems (
  EMS
  ) and/or process automation systems is required.
• Ability to install and troubleshoot DDC sensors and control devices, including the conduit and cabling systems required.
• Ability to use a personal computer to diagnose and manipulate equipment, using Building Automation Systems.

Valid NC drivers License, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
