No prior locating experience is needed, but previous industry experience is a plus and will be considered when determining starting pay. Our technicians spend their workdays on the go, independently working in the field using their company‑provided vehicle.
We use best‑in‑class ticket and claims management systems to ensure clear and complete mark‑out services for the excavator or property owner at the work site.
$20.00 hourly
Responsibilities- Use locating equipment to determine the location of gas lines in a designated area and mark the area with paint and flags to prevent damage to utility infrastructure. Some hand digging to unearth gas lines may be required.
- Develop knowledge and understanding of underground utility infrastructure.
- Follow all company, client, state, and federal damage prevention guidelines.
- As a technician in our Advanced Gas Operations division, you may locate other utilities in addition to gas lines, depending upon the project to which you are assigned.
- Be prepared for daytime, full‑time positions with a 48‑hour turnaround time on many locates, working the day after holidays and some weekends as needed.
- Must be able to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on‑call shifts (including nights and weekends), dependent upon the needs of the business.

- Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
- Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
- Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be expected.
- Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety‑sensitive position).
- Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Able to stand and walk for long periods on varying terrain; bend, stoop, and lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
- Computer proficiency.
- Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints; possess basic math skills for distance calculation.
- Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus.
