Position: Aquatics Stormwater Tech I

Primary Function

Technician 1 will be responsible for learning the operational aspects of Foster Lake & Pond Management. Tech 1 will become familiar with company policies, operations, and software platforms. They will strive to uphold the Core Values and Vision of Foster Lake & Pond Management (FLPM) and show a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Become proficient in FLPM policies (20%)
    • Learn and embody company Core Values within the first 3 months.
    • Learn and embody company Vision Statement within the first 3 months.
    • Read, become familiar with, and sign employee handbook within the first 3 months.
    • Follow policies and procedures written in the employee handbook.
    • Abide by FLPM safety policies and participate in scheduled safety meetings.
  • Must exhibit a willingness to assist and learn all FLPM operations (20%)
    • Show progress and receive positive feedback in Preventative Maintenance.
    • Show progress and receive positive feedback in Construction & Repair Services.
    • Show progress and receive positive feedback in Retail.
    • Show progress and receive positive feedback in Corrective Maintenance.
    • Learn and become proficient in basic equipment maintenance and be able to perform all tasks on the proficiency check list by the end of year one.
    • Learn and become proficient in facility maintenance and be able to perform all tasks on the proficiency check list by the end of year one.
  • Learn and use company software platforms (20%)
    • Use the time app daily and clock into jobs consistently and correctly.
    • Check and respond to Outlook emails daily on working days.
    • Become familiar with our vehicle maintenance system and know how to complete an inspection by the end of your first 6 months.
    • Learn how to use our human resource software effectively within the first 3 months.
    • Check the company calendar daily on workdays and update when necessary.
  • Participate in training opportunities (20%)
    • Attend and pass Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) Inspection and Maintenance Professional certification within the first year of employment.
    • Pass NC aquatic pesticide applicators exam within the first year of employment.
    • Attend at least 1 company‑led training annually.
  • Learn and implement effective communication methods (20%)
    • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisor, and other FLPM employees always.
    • Provide at least 2 pieces of feedback in our company feedback/review software monthly.
    • Respond to company emails within 2 business days.
    • Respond to company texts and phone calls during working hours.
    • Complete self‑check‑ins and other requested human resource items by the stated deadline.

    Skills and Qualifications
    • This position requires a minimum of a high school degree or GED. An associate degree or related experience in landscaping, environmental management, water resources, fisheries science or stormwater device maintenance is preferred.
    • Helpful knowledge and experience include:
      Aquatic Vegetation Management, Freshwater Fishery Management, Turf Establishment and Maintenance, Trash and Debris Removal, Boat Operation & Trailering, Electric Motor Installations, Heavy Equipment Operation.
    • Ability to learn and comprehend the function of stormwater devices and the maintenance expected in Operations & Maintenance Manuals.
    • Familiarity with computers and general business software is desirable.
    • Will encounter job sites on both residential and commercial property. The employee may also be exposed to the homeowner’s pets.
    • Capable of traveling and occasional overnight trips may be required.
    • Have the basic ability to operate and maintain hand tools, small equipment and pumps or be willing to learn.
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
    • Have a positive attitude, professional behavior, and willingness to do whatever is necessary to complete the job.
    • Ability to withstand strenuous physical activities.
    • Regularly lift or move up to 80 pounds.
    • Comfortable working in and around water and mud.
    • Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environmental hazards.
    • Have a valid driver’s license.
    • Allow FLPM to pull their motor vehicle record (MVR) from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DVM). To be hired, a person must have an acceptable record.
