Job Opportunity – Emergency Department Holding / Float Pool Registered Nurse – North Carolina

Start Date: March 9, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-week contract. Every other weekend required. This is an ED Holding Support position located in the Float Pool.

Highlights:

• Specialized ED Holding unit supporting patients awaiting inpatient beds with medical/surgical and progressive care diagnoses
• Target ratios of 1:7 for Med/Surg-Telemetry patients or 1:4 for PCU-level patients
• 12-hour unit orientation with Epic charting system and standard equipment including cardiac monitors and IV pumps
• Float opportunities to Emergency Department and Medical/Surgical areas based on census and unit needs
• Fast-paced, high-acuity environment with interdisciplinary support from respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more
• Up to 7 days of requested time off may be approved, with 2 out of 3 major holidays required

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact RN license required at time of start
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
• Required skills:
  
  Med/Surg-Telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, feeding tube management, peripheral and PICC line care, phlebotomy, colostomy care, renal failure management, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy management, and isolation precautions
• Preferred skills: IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, central line management, IV starts, CVA care, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and wound care/wound vac
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Travel experience required; local candidates accepted with adjusted rate
