Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night position with EPIC experience and charge nurse duties.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Med/Surg unit caring for adult and geriatric patients

• Typical diagnoses include general medical and surgical cases

• Average daily census of 43 patients with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6-7

• Responsible for insulin and heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high-flow oxygen

• Occasional care for COVID-19 positive patients

• Utilizes PYXIS for medication management and EPIC for documentation

• Night shift schedule of 12 hours (18:45-07:15), with options for 36 or 48 hours per week

• Every other weekend required

• May be required to float to similar units and inpatient holding areas

• Call may be required if placed on a pre-scheduled on-call shift

• Assignment to the Inclement Weather Team is required

• Charge nurse responsibilities are required for night shift travelers

• Assignment length may be 13 to 26 weeks as agreed upon

• RTO must be submitted prior to booking and is limited to 7 days; additional RTO is not permitted after booking

• Mandatory participation in Storm Team or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events

• Unit orientation is 24 hours

• Navy scrubs required and not provided by facility

• Must be able to work holidays as assigned

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license

• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience

• Current BCLS certification

• Prior experience using EPIC is required

• Must be able to manage insulin and heparin drips

• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• First time travelers are accepted
