Job Description Summary
Assemble, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate and modify as assigned, mechanical, electro‑mechanical, electronic, micro‑electronics, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, counting, monitoring and ultrasonic equipment. May work with prototype equipment, production equipment, nuclear instrumentation, test equipment and associated controls and instrumentation. Must be proficient in diagnosis and troubleshooting of problems in these areas along with utilizing complex test equipment to resolve component failure, program errors, calibration, or operator error.
May be required to have knowledge of panel assembly and wiring, cable construction. Will be required to work on machine position/motion control systems. Will also be required to generate various forms of analysis and documentation utilizing Microsoft Windows Suite of Office products (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
This is a 3rd shift position which works from Sunday – Thursday: 11PM-7AM. Other working hours and supporting OT may vary to support business need. Starting pay is $41.96/hour. After 6 months of satisfactory performance the pay will increase to $43.90/hour. In addition, there is a $1/hour bonus for working an evening shift schedule.
Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain, repair, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing and quality assurance automated systems. Examples are the following types of equipment: mechanical, electro‑mechanical, machine motion control systems, electronic, micro‑electronics, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, and ultrasonic, etc.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and ladder logic. Must be able to read and understand vendor maintenance manuals for proper calibration and maintenance methods.
- Must be skilled in troubleshooting computer hardware, software and interface peripherals. Must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of processes associated with mechanical, electronic and microprocessor‑based programmable controllers. Must keep abreast of state‑of‑the‑art process control by self‑study, in‑plant training or vendor schooling as required.
- Utilize state‑of‑the‑art test equipment and diagnostic software programs to troubleshoot and correct both hardware and software related problems. Must have an understanding of software programming and be able to modify and document software changes. Must be able to use a variety of test equipment such as Simpson meter, amp probe, oscilloscope, signal generators, programmable power supplies and multimeters.
- Provide training and diagnostic assistance for other personnel in work group as needed.
- Install new or modified equipment or systems and make modifications to existing systems including updating documentation.
- Must be able to generate equipment information, preventative maintenance and calibration procedures for an auditable documentation system.
- Consult with vendors, manufacturing engineers, maintenance personnel concerning equipment operation, troubleshooting and repair as required to minimize downtime.
- Must, through self‑study, on‑the‑job training, in‑plant and vendor training courses, attain a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of automated equipment and nuclear measurement techniques. Must keep abreast of the latest development in state‑of‑the‑art electronics and computer technology.
- Work with quality assurance, engineering and other groups in resolving equipment problems.
- Keep facilities, equipment and work areas clean and orderly and adhere to good housekeeping practices and using good judgment in performing all work safely. Will be responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of work areas.
- Follow safety regulations and procedures while performing assigned duties and tasks. Must comply with provisions set forth in the plant safety manual and use good judgment in performing all work tasks safely. Must assume a leading role in counseling trainee personnel in proper safety methods.
- Must have proficient working knowledge and ability to work to the National Electrical Code.
