The purpose of this position is to manage activities supporting desktop computers and peripherals, help desk contract, equipment procurement, and manage Client Services staff in with Tier 2 support and projects. This is accomplished by researching and identifying technologies, maintaining security and user accounts, ensuring upgrades are installed, managing funds, and scheduling replacements. Other duties include supporting staff and departments and providing technical assistance.

Manages the division by developing and maintaining procedures, scheduling and prioritizing work, researching emerging technologies, training staff, maintaining inventories and purchasing records, and maintaining current service pack levels.

Manages technology requests by meeting with requestors, researching requirements, negotiating prices, processing requests and authorizing expenditures, and providing estimates to departments.

Directs enterprise funding by scheduling replacements, researching technologies, estimating funding, completing reports, entering data and maintaining records, creating and scheduling work orders, and managing inventories.

Administers systems by reviewing security access and requirements, training staff, monitoring access, and disabling accounts when required.

Assists departments by reviewing requests, coordinating upgrades, purchasing software, and serving on committees.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field and three years of progressively responsible experience in information technology OR
  • Associate’s degree and five years of progressively responsible experience in information technology OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
Knowledge of:
  • Current issues, trends, and management theories related to technology plan development, implementation and maintenance.
Skilled in:
  • Use of project management practices and principles.
Ability to:
  • Troubleshoot, organize, and simplify complex technical problems to effectively scope and delegate projects and tasks.
  • Analyze, interpret, summarize and present administrative and technical information and data in an effective manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is primarily office-based, utilizing standard office equipment in a climate-controlled setting and adhering to applicable safety and ergonomic guidelines.

The position functions in a fast-paced, collaborative, and public-facing municipal environment, involving interaction with elected officials, employees, community members, and external partners. Attendance at evening meetings and occasional after-hours or emergency response may be required.
