Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:
The UNCW Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity within the Chancellor's Division is the central office responsible for HR operations and Title IX and Clery compliance. It is organized into seven core units:
Academic HR, Benefits, Classification & Compensation, Employee Relations & Engagement, HR Systems & Salary Administration, Talent Acquisition, and Title IX and Clery Compliance.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position:
Under direct supervision of the Director of HR Systems & Salary Administration, this position manages the SHRA/EHRA leave keeping processes for the campus, including programming and testing upgrades for the leave keeping system. In addition, the position manages the process for verifying prior state service for incoming and departing employees for UNCW and between NC government agencies. This position is highly customer service-oriented and provides training to campus end users on the managed programs.

Responsibilities
  • Manage SHRA/EHRA leave keeping processes for the campus, including programming and testing upgrades for the leave keeping system.
  • Manage the process for verifying prior state service for incoming and departing employees for UNCW and between NC government agencies.
  • Provide training to campus end users on the managed programs.
Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from a four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Education, Professional Skills and Experience
  • One-year HR Assistant/Administrative experience in a public higher education setting.
  • Strong analytical skills to examine and test business processes; recommend improvements that improve operational efficiencies.
  • Experience with Banner or other comparable system.
  • Ability to work independently to plan, organize, follow up/follow-through, be attentive to details, manage time and meet deadlines while managing multiple HR tasks, functions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, handling ambiguity, and completing work with accuracy.
  • Strong technical ability and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, SharePoint, etc.); virtual meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom, Web Ex, etc.); website management systems (Cascade, etc.); room reservation systems (EMS, etc.); and interest in continually learning and using new software/platforms/programs.
  • Ability to use systems and extract, compile, review and present data and information.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a team environment and building effective working relationships inside and outside the team.
