Position Summary
The Cardiac Sonographer I performs diagnostic echo cardiographic examinations, including transthoracic and transesophageal studies, while working closely with cardiologists to ensure accurate, high-quality imaging and patient-centered care.
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Preferred: Associate Degree or higher
Preferred: Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Cardiovascular Program
Preferred: Minimum 1 year of cardiac sonography experience
New graduates are encouraged to apply
Required: Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS or RCS)
New graduates will have up to 6 months to obtain registry
Required: BLS certification (per Life Support Training Policy)
Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound exams, including TTE and TEE
Acquire and evaluate echo cardiographic images and hemodynamic data
Use independent judgment to differentiate normal vs. pathological findings
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and clear communication throughout exams
Maintain ultrasound equipment and report equipment issues as needed
Collaborate with cardiologists and care teams to optimize image quality
Document studies and generate preliminary echocardiography reports
Proficiency in echocardiography equipment and imaging techniques
Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound principles
Ability to work independently and manage changing workloads
Effective communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs
