Environmental Services Technician ensures a clean and aseptic area within the hospital for the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees by performing various housekeeping and other duties.

Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining public areas, restrooms, patient rooms, and ancillary areas according to department policy and procedure, using approved disinfectants and proper cleaning tools to remove soil and stains and to ensure a sanitary environment. This includes dusting, damp mopping, wiping surfaces, cleaning floors, returning equipment to storage, and placing wet floor signs as required. Specific duties may include:
- Public areas: maintain cleanliness per shift or as assigned; dust and damp mop; wipe furnishings; clean carpets and walls; ensure floor safety with wet floor signs; remove water from walls and floors; return equipment to storage.
- Restroom maintenance: sanitary restrooms; clean mirrors and stainless steel; replenish supplies; disinfect fixtures and fixtures; remove mineral deposits; ensure toilets are clean on all sides.
- Patient room and ancillary area cleaning: remove soiled linen and trash; disinfect and clean beds, wheels, rails, bedside tables, and other surfaces; make beds and ensure linens are neat; dispose of trash and segregate waste; disinfect and sanitize rooms between patients.
- Surgical suite cleaning (where applicable): clean and disinfect suites; remove trash and linen; disinfect all items in room.
- Customer & Guest Relations: promote quality guest relations and effective communication; acknowledge customers promptly and handle inquiries with respect and empathy.
- Discharge procedures: assist in discharge-related tasks and inform nursing staff when a room is ready for the next patient where applicable.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED, preferred. - Experience:
Previous hospital or commercial housekeeping experience, preferred. On the job training will be conducted after employment. - Additional

Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate with patients and staff in English.
