In your role as Controls Business Partner, you will provide the business with guidance across the Controls environment, including (but is not limited to):
Controls, Issues, Risk Event Policies and Standards and the identification and oversight of the mitigation of risk. Act as the point of coordination between USCB Businesses to ensure consistency and quality in the delivery of the Controls Strategy, Control Frameworks, improvement programs, and capabilities. You’ll develop and maintain relationships with senior colleagues and stakeholders, with the ability to effectively question risk‑related strategies when needed.
To be successful in your role as Controls Business Partner, you should have:
The ability to influence at senior management level and apply judgement to balance risk versus business interest whilst ensuring compliance to all relevant policies and standards
An understanding and knowledge on aspects of Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Operational Risk Framework (ORF) and Barclays Control Framework (BCF)
Experience of working in or within a Control type role / team with the ability to demonstrate a risk focused mindset

Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present credibly to senior stakeholders
Highly experienced in dealing with multiple stakeholders in different business functions who have different targets such as Barclays Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Legal
The ability to provide thought influence through bringing together insight and analysis including external knowledge

Purpose of the roleTo assess the integrity and effectiveness of the banks internal control framework to support the mitigation of risk and protection of the banks operational, financial, and reputational risk.
Accountabilities- Knowledge of business areas, products, processes and platforms to be able to assess risk
- Collaboration with various stakeholders across the bank and business units to improve overall control effectiveness through detailed documentation of control assessments, procedures, and findings.
- Identification and investigation of potential weaknesses and issues within internal controls to promote continuous improvement and risk mitigation aligned to the bank’s control framework, prioritised by its severity to disrupt bank operations.
- Development of reports to communicate key findings from risk assessment including control weaknesses and recommendations to control owners, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Execution of reviews to determine the effectiveness of the bank's internal controls framework aligned to established and evolving policies, regulation, and best practice.
- Implementation of adherence to the Barclays Controls Framework and set appropriate methodology of assessing controls against the Controls Framework.
- To contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and elevate breaches of policies/procedures..
