Controller

Base pay range$75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
CAP3 is seeking a motivated and experienced Controller who is passionate about financial leadership and client success.
The Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate, timely, and relevant financial records for multiple clients across various industries. They plan, direct, and oversee accounting operations, ensuring proper execution and fostering strong client relationships. The Controller works closely with the CFO, Senior Staff Accountants, and Staff Accountants, directing staff activities and assisting with professional development.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Review daily entry of all financial transactions to ensure proper reporting of assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, and profit.
- Complete daily review of relevant financial reports and reconciliations for accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and payroll.
- Regularly communicate with CFO, Senior Staff Accountants, and Staff Accountants regarding ongoing activities and unusual or unclear transactions.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client.
- Proactively provide necessary information for clients to make informed business decisions.
- Identify challenges or problems with clients and offer solutions and risk mitigation steps.
- Direct cash management by reviewing and communicating proposed weekly cash budgets and cash flow projections.
- Oversee payroll process and related benefits/compensation information, ensuring adherence to labor laws and organizational standards.
- Prepare and review journal entries as needed.
- Complete full review and reconciliation of all accounts included on the financial statements; review month‑end work papers and backup documentation.
- Prepare analysis and commentary on financial performance.
- Prepare information for clients to make sound business decisions, including dashboards, management reporting, projections, budgets, and analysis.
- Ensure clients have adequate tax planning, knowledge of potential liabilities, and strategies to reduce liability.
- Prepare required documentation and schedules for audits, tax preparation, and other filings.
Skills And Abilities
- Experience with Quick Books Online or other accounting platforms.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing/supervising staff, reviewing their work, and issuing feedback.
- Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements and variance reports.
- Ability to adapt to new technology.

• Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.
• Management accounting experience preferred.
• CPA license preferred.
- Prolonged periods sitting at desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
