Overview

A Mechanical Drafting CAD Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This is a Mechanical Drafter role focused on maintaining and converting technical documentation.

• Assist in the creation, revision, and storage of electronic drawing files for global optical fiber manufacturing equipment.
• Work primarily with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Vault.
• Complete engineering/development drawing sets for release into the system.
• Create and edit 3D models and associated drawings.
• Ensure all work adheres to strict company drafting standards.
• Produce detail, sheet metal, weldment, and assembly drawings.
• Focus on revisions and conversions rather than new design activity.
• Correct redlined models and drawings provided by leads or engineers.
• Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD files into 3D models.
• Generate 2D drawings from existing 3D models.
• Gather data and measurements from engineering teams and the production floor.

• Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
• General Windows-based computer skills.
• Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
• Able to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
• Strong work ethic.
• Strong attention to detail.

• A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree.
• A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree.
• Drafting Certificate/Certification.
• Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in the mechanical drafting field.
