Utility Coordinator

Utility Coordinator – Join our Wilmington, NC team at STV.

STV needs Utility Coordinators to oversee utility coordination and relocations for NCDOT division‑managed programs, managing resources to identify conflicts and oversee relocation prior to construction. The role offers opportunities to maintain client relationships, expand geographic service offerings, mentor junior staff, and promote healthy work‑life balance.

• Develop utility relocation strategies and provide coordination/relocation services for water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunication, etc.
• Interpret highway construction plans, drainage summaries, specifications, to identify utility impacts.
• Apply Federal Highway Administration, NCDOT, and NC General Statutes policies and engineering standards to utility relocation.
• Employ innovative construction methods while complying with environmental regulations and roadway design standards.
• Coordinate simultaneous tasks/projects and maintain strong organizational skills.
• Schedule and conduct utility meetings with NCDOT, utility owners, and contractors; prepare agendas and minutes.
• Communicate technical information professionally.
• Work closely with other design disciplines to find the most practical conflict resolution.
• Know the Subsurface Utility Engineering process and data interpretation.
• Determine cost responsibility, assist owners with utility agreements, relocation plans, and schedules.
• Perform QA/QC of utility relocation packages for NCDOT submission.
• Prepare and QA/QC Utility by Others (UBO) plans in Micro Station.
• Prepare Environmental Permit drawings and narratives.
• Attend field meetings and site investigations when required.
• Use Microsoft Office or equivalent.
• Use NCDOT Utilities Accommodation Manual.
• Travel overnight occasionally.

• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
