Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The School of Nursing, located within the College of Health and Human Services, is seeking temporary/part time faculty
, for clinical teaching in the prelicensure nursing program to create a pool for advance and short-notice teaching assignments based on program demand for the Academic Year.
Courses may include:
- Foundations
- Adult Health
- Maternal-Infant
- Community
- Mental Health
- Capstone (senior clinical preceptor experience)
The Academic Year includes the following semesters:
- Fall 2025
- Spring 2026
- Summer 2026
Undergraduate course teaching: Master’s degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution.
Graduate course teaching: Terminal degree in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
Those with equivalent verifiable professional experience, certifications, and licensures in the discipline may also be considered.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & ExperiencePrelicensure or graduate teaching experience preferred.
Required Certifications or Licensure- NP faculty must have an active North Carolina NP license and board certification
- Prelicensure nursing faculty must have a North Carolina RN license
The School of Nursing (SON) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) has an outstanding legacy of serving the people of southeastern North Carolina through education, scholarship, and service. The SON is dedicated to excellence in the development of healthcare professionals through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement, and community outreach and impact.
The SON is a National League of Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education, specifically in the area of promoting the pedagogical expertise of faculty. The SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state‑of‑the‑art facility that includes offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and the Simulation Learning Center. The Simulation Learning Center uses high, medium, and low‑fidelity human patient simulators as teaching and learning tools for nursing education.
Through the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes the cognitive, affective, physical, and social development of the student as well as the incorporation of inter‑professional collaborative experiences for students across the degree programs in the College.
SON offers the following degree and certificate programs:
Nursing- BS in Nursing (Prelicensure, RN-BSN, Accelerated – starting May 2025)
- MS in Nursing (Nurse Educator)
- Nurse Educator Certificate
- DNP
- BSN to DNP (Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult‑Gero Nurse Practitioner)
- MSN to DNP (Nurse Executive Leadership and Post‑APRN concentrations)
- BS in Clinical Research
- Post‑Baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Research Operations
- MS in Clinical Research and Product Development
Over 2,400 students are enrolled in programs within the SON. The SON has over 80 full‑time faculty and employs over 60 part‑time faculty per semester.
College/School InformationThe College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 to provide UNCW with a new mechanism to link and focus its health‑related research, professional continuing education, and health knowledge dissemination and application. In its formative stage of development, the CHHS is currently home to three professional schools:
