The School of Social Work, located within the College of Health and Human Services, is seeking temporary/part time faculty
, for the Academic Year.

The  Academic Year includes the following semesters:

• Fall 2025
• Spring 2026
• Summer 2026

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• Undergraduate course teaching:
  Masters degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Graduate course teaching:
  Terminal degree in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• Those with equivalent verifiable professional experience, certifications, and licensures in the discipline may also be considered.

The School of Social Work (SSW) is dedicated to the development of excellent social workers through in-depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement, and outreach and impact. The School prepares students to help individuals, families, and groups discover and build upon their own strengths and external resources to meet the challenges of poverty, discrimination, health and mental health issues, and other difficult life situations.

UNCW social work graduates work in social service, health, and mental health agencies in Southern North Carolina, throughout the state, and across the country. The School of Social Work is located in McNeill and Veterans' Hall, state‑of‑the‑art facilities that include offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, a Student Learning Commons and Success Center, and a state‑of‑the‑art Simulation Learning Center.

Through the use of simulation, we strive to create a realistic environment and a powerful learning experience that promotes cognitive, affective, physical, and social development for Social Work students, while incorporating interprofessional collaborative experiences with students across the other degree programs in the College.

We are proud to offer the following programs: full‑time Bachelor in Social Work programs on the main campus in Wilmington and HST‑BSW online, a full‑time and advanced standing Master in Social Work program in Wilmington, part‑time Master in Social Work program in Wilmington, and four courses toward LCAS credentialing in substance use disorders and addictions.

Prior to the official appointment to the university, the candidate(s) selected for hire must be able to demonstrate eligibility to teach assigned courses by successfully meeting the credentialing requirements based on official transcripts and other documentation as required.

This is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
