Overview

The Honors College is seeking temporary/part-time faculty for Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and Spring 2026 with the ability to teach Honors University Studies courses.

Honors College faculty typically teach only one course a semester, and the College rotates through faculty to diversify offerings. The academic year  includes:

  • Summer 2025
  • Fall 2025
  • Spring 2026

The Honors College courses are designed as seminars that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, faculty-student interaction, and experiential learning and provide a context around the students' specific majors. Honors seminars can be taught as either 1- or 3-credit courses.

Responsibilities

Teach Honors University Studies courses during the specified semesters. Courses include the following options:

  • HON 110 (3 credits):
First-Year Seminar focused on an interdisciplinary topic designed to introduce all freshman honors students to the college experience by direct involvement in research, service, and leadership activities.
  • HON 210/211/212 (3 credits):
Interdisciplinary Seminar offering an in-depth investigation of a special topic using the approaches of several disciplines.
  • HON 120/121 (1 credit):
Enrichment Seminar encouraging learning beyond the classroom through a more "hands‑on," direct experience approach (field work, travel, or individual projects).
  • HON 191 (1 credit):
Introduction to Research and Discovery – an overview of research procedures in discipline areas, including literature searches and data collection, emphasizing applied learning and development of basic skills appropriate to the discipline.
  • HON 399 (1 credit):
Thesis Preparation Course designed as a workshop to help students prepare for their thesis experience, understand the value of undergraduate research, and develop a full‑fledged proposal of a research project.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline from a regionally accredited institution. Those with equivalent verifiable professional experience, certifications, and licensures in the discipline may also be considered.
