Brief Summary of Work for this Position: The College of Science and Engineering Academic Resource Center seeks a temporary academic advisor who will provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students during the academic year. The advising caseload will be determined based on number of hours worked (range is 10‑29 hours per week). This position will support undergraduate students in the College of Science and Engineering and will be expected to provide accurate curricular and policy information to assist in short‑term and long‑term academic program planning and career goal clarification.

This position will be working with all students served by the College of Science and Engineering Academic Resource Center, including transfer, military‑affiliated, and pre‑health students.

Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related field with three years of progressive experience in academic advising, student support services, or a comparable area; or a Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Affairs, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience utilizing a range of software applications and educational technologies, including Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and other technology‑enhanced delivery platforms.

Preferred Education, Knowledge,

Skills & Experience:

  • Master's degree with at least one year of advising or related experience working with students in a college setting.
  • Experience with and commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds (e.g., first‑year, continuing, and transfer students; pre‑professional students; adult learners, military students, on‑campus and online students, students from historically underrepresented populations) and knowledge of issues of these student populations.
  • Knowledge of best practices and theoretical foundations in the fields of advising, adult learning, and student development.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend to details with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and execution of, high‑level customer service.

Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Work Days: Monday – Friday; including occasional evenings and weekends
