Position Title

12-month Open Rank Clinical Track, School of Nursing

Brief Summary

The School of Nursing (SON), within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for full-time, clinical track 12-month faculty positions beginning August 2026. These positions are being hired to support a 12-month program. Clinical track faculty may be hired on a contract of up to 5 years that is renewable based on performance.

Clinical track faculty are eligible for promotion to higher clinical track ranks. Appointment to rank is dependent on qualifications relative to the university, college, and school standards.

The primary teaching responsibilities will be assigned across the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. In addition, clinical track faculty have expectations related to advising/mentoring students, scholarship, performing professional and community service and outreach, and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement depending on their rank. Faculty are required to have a presence on campus.

Required Qualifications
  • A master's degree in nursing OR doctoral degree in nursing OR a doctorate in a related discipline with a baccalaureate OR graduate degree in nursing at the time of application.
  • Applicants for these positions should demonstrate the potential for high-quality teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and clinical expertise in adult health, community, mental health, or pediatrics.
  • Experience with AI use in educational and professional settings
Required Certifications or Licensure
  • A current RN license in NC or eligibility for licensure in NC.
Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses, advise and mentor students, engage in scholarship, participate in professional and community service, contribute to program evaluation and improvement, and maintain a campus presence throughout the contract period.

About the School of Nursing

The School of Nursing (SON) within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) is dedicated to excellence in the development of healthcare professionals. Nursing programs at the SON are CCNE accredited and have been recognized by the National League of Nursing as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education. The SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state-of-the-art facility with offices, classrooms, a large lecture hall, computer laboratories, student success areas and learning commons, and a Simulation Learning Center.

Through the use of simulation, the SON strives to create realistic learning experiences that promote cognitive, affective, physical, and social development and inter‑professional collaboration across degree programs. Programs offered include BS in Nursing, MS in Nursing (Nurse Educator), Nurse Educator Certificate, and DNP pathways among others. The SON has over 2,100 students and more than 85 full-time faculty and employs over 60 part-time faculty per semester.
