Position: 9-month Open Rank Clinical Track, School of Nursing

Overview

The School of Nursing (SON), within the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for full‑time, 9‑month clinical track at the rank of Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor starting August 2026. Clinical track faculty may be hired on a contract of up to 5 years, renewable based on performance.

Appointment to rank is dependent on qualifications relative to university, college, and school standards. The primary teaching responsibilities will be assigned across undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. In addition, clinical track faculty are expected to advise/mentor students, conduct scholarship, perform professional and community service/outreach, and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement depending on rank. Faculty are required to have a presence on campus.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • A master's degree in nursing OR a doctoral degree in nursing OR a doctorate in a related discipline with a baccalaureate OR a graduate degree in nursing at the time of application.
  • Applicants should demonstrate potential for high‑quality teaching.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience and clinical expertise in adult health, community, mental health, or pediatrics.
  • Experience with AI use in educational and professional settings.
Required Certifications or Licensure
  • A current RN license in NC or eligibility for licensure in NC.
About the School of Nursing

The School of Nursing (SON) has a legacy of serving people of southeastern North Carolina through education, research, scholarship, and service. It is dedicated to excellence in developing healthcare professionals through in‑depth education, professional partnerships, applied research, regional engagement, and community outreach. Nursing programs are CCNE accredited and the SON has been recognized by the National League of Nursing as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education in the area of promoting pedagogical expertise of faculty.

The SON is located in McNeill Hall, a state‑of‑the‑art facility including a Simulation Learning Center that uses high, medium, and low‑fidelity human patient simulators for teaching and learning.

College/School Information

The College of Health and Human Services was created in July 2010 and currently houses the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work. It seeks national recognition for inter‑professional collaboration, community engagement and impact.
