Keyboard Player/Band Director, Wilmington, NC

Encounter Church is seeking a Keyboard Player / Band Director. This is a Part-Time Paid Position.

The Keyboard Player / Band Director serves as a key musical leader within the worship ministry at Encounter Point Church. This role provides musical excellence, strong rhythmic and harmonic leadership, and spiritual sensitivity during worship services. The position supports both congregational worship and preaching moments by helping maintain musical flow and atmosphere.

This is a part-time paid role with weekly responsibilities tied to rehearsals and services.

• Weekly Rehearsal
  • Thursday night rehearsal, once per week
• Sunday Services
  • Sunday rehearsal at 7:30 am
  • Two worship services at 9:00 am and 11:00 am
• Special Services
  • Participate in 3–4 additional services per year, scheduled on Sunday or Wednesday nights

• Musical Leadership
  • Serve as the primary keyboard player during rehearsals and services.
  • Function as a Band Director by:
    • Leading musically from the keyboard
    • Helping maintain tempo, transitions, and flow
    • Supporting the worship leader and vocalists
    • Provide musical support during preaching moments, altar calls, and prayer times.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the movement of the service and atmosphere in the room.
• Preparation & Participation
  • Attend weekly rehearsals prepared and on time.
  • Participate fully in Sunday rehearsals and services.
  • Be flexible and prepared for special services throughout the year.
  • Maintain a professional, prepared, and team-oriented approach.

• Ability to read chord charts.
• Strong working knowledge of the Nashville Number System.
• Experience playing in a live worship or church band setting.
• Ability to follow leadership and adapt musically in real time.
• Demonstrated skill in supporting preaching and worship flow.

The following skills are not required but will be considered for higher compensation:

• Experience with Planning Center.
• Experience with Multi Tracks Playback or similar systems.
• Ability to help prepare:
  • Chord charts in Planning Center
  • Backing tracks in Playback
• Willingness to assist in musical preparation and coordination for the worship ministry.
