Description WECT is looking for a driven, creative News Producer (Weekend) who works well with a team of talented professionals to create compelling newscasts. Excellent news judgment, superb writing skills, and a knack for showcasing stories for the viewer are key. We're looking for a self-starter who has creative writing skills and can handle deadlines while juggling planning and producing on-air and digital content.
Responsibilities- Produce live newscasts on Saturday & Sunday (while fill-in producing during the week, as needed)
- Select stories and determine story order
- Write broadcast and digital scripts
- Communicate with anchors, assignment desk, reporters, photographers, editors, and others to ensure execution of a high-quality newscast
- Bachelor s degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Experience as a producer preferred, but not required
- Ability to work at a high level under tight deadlines
- Scheduling flexibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent writing, showcasing, communication, and time management skills required
- ENPS experience/knowledge preferred, but not required
