Job Overview

CDM Smith’s Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team is seeking a Senior Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector to travel nationally east of the Mississippi River. The role requires 100% field-based travel and offers the chance to work on impactful infrastructure projects in diverse outdoor environments.

• Perform both complex and routine inspections of construction activities to ensure that materials, construction processes, and construction conformance meet plans, specifications, and special provisions.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations as needed.
• Review drawings and construction documents to prepare for inspections.
• Understand design intent and communicate inspection results to supervisors.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 8 years of related construction inspection experience.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel nationally and internationally.
• Knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, and equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications.
• Certification from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete is preferred.

Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Position requires 20% travel and 100% field work.
