Traveling Assistant Superintendent Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Superintendent to join our team on an exciting Class A multifamily development project. Located in Wilmington, NC, this 225‑unit project is part of a larger development initiative in one of the Southeast’s fastest‑growing markets. The development offers luxury living with climate‑controlled corridors, elevators, and resort‑style amenities. Assist the lead superintendent and additional assistant superintendent in managing day‑to‑day site operations from framing through finishes, including drywall, paint, cabinetry, and punch.
Coordinate subcontractors, deliveries, and inspections to maintain schedule and quality standards.
Maintain daily logs, progress photos, and documentation in Procore.
Enforce site safety protocols and cleanliness.
Support short‑interval scheduling and help drive project milestones toward turnover.
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders and ensure timely resolution of issues.
2‑3 years of experience in Ground Up or Heavy Rehab Multifamily construction with a general contractor as an Assistant Superintendent, or a Trade foreman with 5+ years on multifamily projects.
Travel‑ready for 100% on‑site work across the Southeast and comfortable living near the project for its duration.
Professional presence with a clear ‘spark’ or grit in interviews, demonstrating coachability, proactive problem‑solving, and ownership.
Schedule and sequencing literacy from framing through MEP rough‑in to finishes.
Proficiency in Procore, drywall, painting, and Microsoft Project software.
Skills & Qualifications
Direct multifamily GC assistant superintendent experience.
Trade leadership background in areas such as drywall, paint, plumbing, or carpentry.
Procore user experience and Microsoft Project exposure are helpful.
A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Being local to the Southeast is advantageous for shorter mobilization and easier home visits.
The position requires working on‑site from Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM. Some weekend work may be necessary as the project nears completion or if the schedule falls behind. The role involves occasional travel away from the site for materials or incidentals, with reimbursement for travel and accommodation.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80,000.00 – $ per hour.
