This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Child Watch Associate will provide direction for all children in the program and implement program activities as established. The Associate will provide a quality experience to children and parents in a safe environment in a nurturing manner that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.

WAGE RANGE$12.44 – $15.55 /hr, depending on experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Implements and participates in activities that develop youth within the established guidelines.
- Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
- Supervises the children, program space, and all activities including following all procedures and standards.
- Maintains a healthy and safe environment for the participating children in Child Watch.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings and staff training.
- Disseminates concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Helps to promote other YMCA activities and programs.
- Maintains required safety practices (e.g., bathroom procedures, sign‑in/out procedures).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- CPR & First Aid certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred – minimum age of 16 is required. Must know how to change a diaper.
- Ability to implement and participate in age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities for the children in Child Watch.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
- Employee frequently required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
- Noise level in the work environment usually moderate – sometimes loud.
