Overview
TEKsystems is seeking a Structured Cabling Technician to support cabling installations within a large commercial facility. This technician will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and labeling structured cabling systems in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience working in large facilities, is comfortable in construction or active environments, and takes pride in delivering clean, well‑documented cabling work.
Responsibilities- Install, route, and secure structured cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A
- Terminate copper cabling on patch panels, jacks, and faceplates
- Perform cable testing and certification using Fluke or similar testers
- Label cabling, patch panels, and faceplates per project standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable schedules
- Maintain cable pathways including J‑hooks, ladder racks, and conduit
- Work in large facilities such as campuses, warehouses, data rooms, or enterprise office spaces
- Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Collaborate with project leads, engineers, and other technicians to meet project timelines
- 2+ years of experience installing structured cabling in commercial or enterprise environments
- Hands‑on experience with copper cabling installation and termination
- Familiarity with industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI best practices)
- Ability to read blueprints and follow structured cabling layouts
- Experience working on ladders, lifts, and in ceiling spaces
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Reliable transportation and ability to work on site daily
- Experience working in large facilities (campus, warehouse, hospital, data center, or enterprise office)
- Fiber optic experience (single mode / multimode) is a plus
- BICSI, manufacturer, or cabling certifications
- Experience working alongside electricians or low‑voltage teams in construction environments

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
