Job Summary

Textron Systems is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior CNC Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to fabricate precision components that meet Textron’s high‑quality standards. This position requires an individual who is proficient in CNC programming, understands machining principles, and prioritizes safety, accuracy, and productivity.

About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • CNC Programming:
    Develop, write, and revise CNC programs using G‑code/M‑code or CAD/CAM software for milling, turning, and multi‑axis machining centers.
  • Machine Setup:
    Set up CNC machines by selecting and installing the appropriate tools, fixtures, and programs. Perform initial test runs and make modifications as needed.
  • Operation:
    Operate CNC machinery efficiently to produce high‑quality parts according to specifications.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Inspect parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.), ensuring they meet blueprints and tolerances.
  • Process Optimization:
    Continuously optimize machining processes to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times while maintaining quality.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Diagnose and resolve machine malfunctions, tooling issues, and programming errors. Reduce downtime and ensure production goals are met.
  • Collaboration:

    Work closely with engineers, production teams, and quality control to address technical challenges and improve processes.
  • Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records of program revisions, machine setups, and production activities in compliance with company standards.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required. Technical school or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in CNC programming and operation.
  • Familiarity with industry‑standard CAD/CAM software, such as Mazatrol, Fanuc, Trac CNC, Mastercam, NX.
  • Experience with multi‑axis CNC machines is a plus.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and machining manuals.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and materials.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Certifications:

    CNC machining certifications (MAZAK, NIMS, HAAS, etc.) are advantageous but not required.
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
