Responsibilities- Assembly of various optical and mechanical components within a Class 100 (ISO
5) Clean Room and/or a non‑clean‑room lab. - Search for and find information to determine and validate the right path forward for the assembly while meeting quality, schedule, and cost targets.
- Lapping various types of materials for flatness, parallelism, and angles to extremely tight tolerancing.
- Read and analyze manufacturing instructions, drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
- Diagnose problems and determine effective corrective actions for assembly of complex mechanical, optical, and electrical components.
- Maintain traceability to components within a kit during assembly.
- Assemble, modify, and bond hardware with tolerances in microns.
- Safely handle sensitive optical components and assemblies (lenses, mirrors, etc.) without damage.
- Communicate with functions regarding program matters, recommending paths forward or design changes for efficient assembly.
- Improve efficiency by reducing errors, defects, scrap, and rework.
- Provide insight and feedback to engineers to improve manufacturing processes and documentation.
- Find and execute new projects during downtime.
- Works under limited supervision to set objectives for lab area.
- Achieves operational targets, including schedule and cost, within the job area.
- Influences decision‑making for assigned projects.
- Reads, understands, and follows build documentation to meet program and company requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or post‑secondary/associate degree with at least 4 years of related experience.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience working in a Class 100 (ISO
5) clean room. - Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read drawings and/or schematics per industry specifications.
- Strong hands‑on and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Familiarity with hand and test tools/equipment, including torque wrenches and multimeters.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Massachusetts is $61,000 - $113,000
. This is not a guarantee of compensation; final offer may vary based on experience and location. L3
