Position: ESL Teacher - (District)
• Teach English Language Development (ELD) skills to small groups of English learner students in
"pull-out" settings or in Sheltered English Immersion classrooms in proficiency-level groups at the
elementary level (K-5) and secondary level (6-12).

* Use data and student assets to develop appropriate English language development (ESL) lesson plans
to meet the needs of the English learners as appropriate for their English proficiency level(s).

* Develop appropriate English language development lesson plans to meet the needs of the English
learner students at their English proficiency level.

* Administer initial screening and annual assessment of English learners using tools such as W-APT,
WIDA Screener, and ACCESS.

* Maintain records for all requirements for state English Learner Education program: completing exit
forms, monitoring exited students, completing student progress reports each term, sending out parent
notification letters, organizing folders, and other administrative tasks.

* Keep up with all state requirements for English Learner Education program: completing exiting
forms, monitoring exited students, completing student progress reports each term, sending out parent
notification letters, organizing folders, and other administrative tasks.

* Assist in the development of an ESL content-integrated curriculum and updating existing curriculum
maps for grades K-12.

* Evaluate student results and share with the classroom teacher.

* Work with classroom teachers to utilize appropriate SEI instructional strategies.

* Develop, implement, and consistently monitor goals and objectives for students in accordance with
the Massachusetts ELA Curriculum Frameworks, WIDA Standards, and CCSS.

* Communicate regularly with parents/guardians of students in order to assist in the development of
language acquisition in the home.

* Attend ESL department meetings.

* Other duties as assigned
