Associate Pastor of Worship and Youth

Wilmington is a town of approximately 5,000 located about 10 miles south of Joliet and the Chicago Metropolitan area. Island City Baptist Church is reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ in Wilmington and surrounding communities but is also missionally focused on assisting other churches in northern Illinois in partnership with the Illinois State Baptist Association and the Three Rivers Baptist Association.

We are a Kingdom focused church that seeks to help others follow Jesus. The Associate Pastor of Worship & Youth is a position designed to assist the Pastor in leading the church through Christ-exalting worship and helping teenagers grow in their relationship with Christ.

The position requires responsibilities to be split approximately evenly between worship and youth ministry.

• Planning organizing, and leading congregational music for worship services.
• Leading and developing the worship team. (Praise band and audio/visual teams)
• Overseeing all technical aspects of worship including sound, visual, lighting and streaming. (We use Pro Presenter)

• Work with Pastor to oversee youth ministry of the church.
• Provide spiritual leadership to the student ministry which includes middle school and high school students.
• Be responsible to seek to develop the students in the youth ministry into mature followers of Christ.

• A clear testimony of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• A clear desire to grow professionally.
• Meeting the qualifications of a pastor / elder / overseer in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
• Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)

• Theological training from an accredited college or seminary or equivalent experience.
• Formal music training or equivalent experience
• Ability to sing and play an instrument.
