The Mainframe Developer will design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, VSAM, and version control tools.
This role involves building new programs, modifying existing logic, validating data, and supporting application functionality in an Agile environment.
The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business requirements.
Key Responsibilities Application Development- Design and develop mainframe applications with a strong focus on COBOL programming.
- Modify existing COBOL programs to incorporate new business logic and functionality.
- Create new COBOL programs to validate, process, and manage business data.
- Develop DB2 programs to validate data, retrieve information from existing tables, and support business workflows.
- Create and manage VSAM files to support new requirements and data storage needs.
- Utilize CHANGEMAN or IMS for version control, release management, and migration of program changes.
- Ensure proper documentation and tracking of changes throughout the development lifecycle.
- Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Provide production support and assist with issue resolution as needed.
- Ensure code quality, performance, and compliance with internal standards.
- Work as part of an Agile team, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and support smooth delivery.
- 10+ years of experience designing and developing mainframe applications.
- Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, including modifying existing programs and building new ones for data validation and processing.
- Proficiency with DB2, including writing programs to retrieve and validate data.
- Experience working with VSAM, including creating and managing VSAM files.
- Expertise with CHANGEMAN or IMS for version control.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
