Lead Diesel Mechanic
The Fleet Mechanic/Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall care of the company’s fleet of trucks, vehicles, and heavy equipment. This role ensures all fleet assets operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and heavy equipment, including gasoline and diesel‑powered units.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using visual inspection, manual tools, and computer‑based diagnostic equipment.
- Conduct routine services such as oil and filter changes, fueling, fluid checks, and other scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Plan and coordinate daily fleet service activities and assist with maintaining maintenance schedules for all vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, service schedules, vehicle registrations, titles, and inventory.
- Manage shop inventory and support ordering of parts, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure shop, tools, and vehicles are kept secure, safe, and compliant with all facility and safety regulations.
- Clean and detail company vehicles as needed and report any unusual damage or incidents.
- Remain available for after‑hours emergencies and work nights or weekends as required.
- Perform physical repair tasks including standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Diesel troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Proficiency in hydraulics, preventive maintenance, diesel engine, and diesel maintenance.
- Expertise in brake and engine repair, as well as auto and truck repair.
Skills & Qualifications
- CDL Class A license (required).
- Clean and valid driving record.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software for maintaining service records and inventory.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information from service and repair manuals.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Capability to use diagnostic software and computer‑based tools.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $72,800.00 – $83,200.00/yr.
