Sous Chef - Dining – DuPont Country Club

Salary: $85,000.00–$

Job Overview:

The DuPont Country Club, nestled within the rolling hills of the historic Brandywine Valley, is a premier venue with championship‑caliber golf, tennis, pools, a fitness center, and elegant rooms. The club hosts many events and offers exceptional service. We are seeking a full‑time Sous Chef to lead our kitchen staff, assist the Executive Chef, and ensure the highest quality of service across our 1920 Restaurant, Legends Bar, and other outlets.

Responsibilities

& Duties
  • Working a station and ensuring food is cooked in a timely manner
  • Delegating tasks to kitchen staff (Cooks and Cooks’ Assistants) and ensuring appealing plate presentation
  • Supervises Cooks and assists as needed; administers kitchen opening, closing, and side duties as directed
  • Monitors food stock, places orders, checks freshness, and discards out‑of‑date items
  • Experiments with recipes, suggests new ingredients, and makes slight modifications to meet customer requests
  • Manages inventory, ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, and supervises in a high‑volume environment
  • Develops, implements, and maintains systems for culinary staff; trains and develops staff; builds team morale
  • Holds others accountable for following company standards and procedures; innovates and implements new ideas
  • Manages budgets including labor, food, and operating costs
  • Works flexible schedule, including nights, days, weekends, and holidays
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises 5–10 employees within the department.

Qualifications
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Serv Safe certification preferred; licenses or registrations required as applicable
  • Proper knife skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication (oral & written), and organizational skills
  • Detail‑oriented, precise, and able to handle multiple tasks under time constraints
