Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care for Elders (ACE) – Day Shift

Christiana Care - Wilmington Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the 8S Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit. This is a day shift position on the ACE unit.

Responsibilities

• Deliver care to elderly patients (typically age 70+) with acute illnesses, focusing on maintaining function, providing education, and ensuring safety.
• Work as part of the 8S team with a true relationship-based care model, building relationships with patients, families, and peers guided by the values of love and excellence.
• Assist in managing a team of 5 medical patients per shift and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including a unit-based Nurse Practitioner, physicians, pharmacy, physical therapy, and other assistive personnel.
• Monitor patients closely, assess physical condition and safety risks, respond to emergencies, and provide ongoing supportive care.
• Receive training in evidence-based care practices for the older adult.

Education & Requirements

• DE RN License or Compact RN License.
• BSN or commitment to obtain within three years of hire date.
• Preferred: at least one year of RN experience in acute care (medical, surgical, or step-down).
• BLS required.
• Demonstrate a passion for working with older adults.
