An Infection Control / Registered Nurse delivers quality care consistent with the scope of practice for Registered Nurses as outlined by local state nurse practice acts. The RN manages the responsibilities of the Infection Control Program, maintains national infection control standards, ensures nursing activities are delegated and supervised, and provides a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment to prevent communicable diseases and infections.
Minimum Requirements- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
- Active CPR certification
- Knowledge of specific state laws and regulations governing practice
- Completion of initial and annual clinical competencies as assigned by the role
- Must hold a bachelor's degree (or higher) prepared in nursing with experience in healthcare infection control, and obtain, within six months of hire, certification in infection control from a nationally recognized organization such as APIC or SHEA
