Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a compact RN license, strong telemetry skills, and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
• Hospital-based Cardiac Telemetry unit
• Patient population includes congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac cath patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:6-7
• 12-hour night shifts (18::15), 3 shifts per week
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 shifts per contract (equivalent to every other weekend)
• Floating is required as needed, with the potential to float every shift
• 13 to 26 week contracts available
• Use of Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team for catastrophic events
• Cardiac telemetry nurses perform sheath pulls, TR Bands, and Femstop procedures
• Must wear navy scrubs, which are not provided
• Self-scheduling according to unit needs
• No RTO allowed after booking; maximum of 7 days RTO for consideration
• May be reassigned mid-contract based on unit needs or emergency situations
Requirements
• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or stepdown experience
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and experience with remote cardiac monitoring
• Experience with Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Cardiac Surgery, Sheath Removal, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Proficiency with titrating cardiac drips including Diltiazem and Amiodarone
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• First-time travelers accepted
