Join the temporary Janitor - PT Temp role s 12‑week position (possible extension) provides an opportunity to support a non‑profit dedicated to people with disabilities.
Service Source, a qualified nonprofit agency under the Ability One program, hires persons with significant disabilities. Documentation of a disability is required for direct labor positions in compliance with the JWOD Act.
Scope of WorkThe janitor cleans and maintains the facility, performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing floors; removing trash; dusting equipment and furniture; polishing metal fixtures; providing minor maintenance; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
Primary Duties- Responsible for the overall care of the building and grounds following proper cleaning procedures.
- Vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, and empty trash in various areas of the building on a daily basis.
- Operate floor buffer and scrubber machines to clean rugs.
- Clean glass of all doorways and entrances to offices.
- Monitor building security and safety by locking doors after cleaning offices.
- Notify management of need for repairs when necessary.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial experience preferred.
- Ability to comprehend basic written and oral instructions.
- Customer service skills, both internal and external.
- Cooperative, good personal and grooming habits.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area to maximize efficiency.
Ability to lift light to moderate loads, stand and walk for extended periods, and occasionally perform tasks outside in varying weather. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work EnvironmentWork may involve exposure to outside weather and occurs in a quiet to moderate noise environment.
