Job Description
Job Description – This role is part of the Portfolio Management and Administration team (PMA), a closely integrated cross-functional team that provides various critical functions to different business lines within RBC Capital Markets and Central Funding. PMA provides transactional execution and administrative support for securitization financing transactions globally (United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia) funded directly on RBC's balance sheet or via the issuance of commercial paper by RBC-administered conduits.
Within Alternate Finance PMA also supports three key business lines: (1) CLO Warehousing, (2) Term Loan Financing and (3) Private Credit Finance. This position provides administrative and oversight functions for the various financing structures, including reviewing legal documents, facilitating client fundings and repayments, reconciling P&L and ensuring RBC's books reflect exposures. Oversight duties involve proper internal transaction approvals, monitoring warehouse loan activity against internal limits and ensuring documentation is retained.
PMA supports structured finance transactions and this role includes operational, compliance, project management, and interdepartmental communications to ensure proper accounting, recording and reporting of transactions, and data compilation for internal and external constituents. The role also entails performing a variety of administrative functions to ensure compliance with applicable by-laws, transaction legal documents and RBC Enterprise Wide policies and procedures.
What will you do?
As a Junior Transaction Execution Team Member:
- Facilitate AML/KYC onboarding of new clients with FO origination team, external legal and client.
- Work with origination and senior team members to develop knowledge of transactions and understanding of legal documents to populate all static data for new clients in CCMS and Loan Fin proprietary application. Ensure data is accurate and complete.
- Review and validate funding/wire details at closing and in all subsequent funding requests from clients; communicate details to GLA as required.
- Review and validate interest revenue on RBC's general ledger and distribute client invoices.
- Review administration sections of transaction legal documentation, including fee letters, to ensure RBC can book and administer the transaction as described in the agreements.
- Participate in due diligence meetings, where possible.
- Inform appropriate internal business partners of new transactions (e.g., Product Control, Financial Control, Legal, Capital Measurement).
- Ensure transactions comply with RBC policies and procedures before closing.
As a Junior Portfolio Manager for designated products:
- Develop a thorough understanding of transactions, portfolio reports, portfolio characteristics and credit enhancement calculations to ensure accurate capture and reporting of deal performance.
- Help set portfolio administration standards and metrics and develop procedures to ensure consistent and accurate reporting for new and existing transactions.
- Understand transactions to facilitate SPV reporting (e.g., Volker Repository, SPE Sponsorship checklist and Defacto Control Macro Template).
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve operational issues where applicable.
- Retain required deal-related documentation, including transaction legal documents, borrowing and paydown notices, and client invoices.
As Transaction Support Administrator:
- Coordinate and ensure proper transaction approvals are obtained (e.g., Com Com scheduling & approval, GRM, Catena, KYC).
- Set up input transaction and entity data in RBC systems (e.g., CCMS, Fenergo) and communicate details to operational support teams.
- Maintain the Facility Authorized Amount in CCMS based on equity and pending collateral trades, as regulatory capital is keyed off this amount.
- Serve as business liaison and primary point of contact with KYC/AML groups.
- Conduct KYC annual refresh exercises; communicate requirements to Origination and Client to gather required information.
- Compile transaction status lists for internal and external constituents (e.g., quarterly forward-looking compliance items).
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in projects to implement new products, transaction types or expansion of existing products to new jurisdictions; improve processes or systems.
- Assist related portfolios with internal and external audits.
- Identify operational risks and control deficiencies proactively.
- Review and comply with RBC policies applicable to your activities.
- Escalate operational risk events and deficiencies to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly. Failure to do so may lead to disciplinary action, up to termination.
- 1 - 2 years of relevant securitization experience is highly preferred. Candidates with less than one year of full-time work experience should have relevant internship experience.
