OverviewIdentifies, recommends and defends individual investments and/or implementation vehicles to improve portfolio outcomes for clients.
Primary Responsibilities- Collaborate with client-facing colleagues to strengthen their understanding of investment solutions.
- Participate in client and prospect meetings to help solidify current relationships and to develop new business.
- Develop new and innovative investment ideas.
- Analyze portfolio risks, exposures and performance drivers.
- Manage and allocate research work to less experienced teammates.
- Prepare documentation to communicate portfolio performance, investment options, risks and pending decisions.
- Conduct regular meetings and calls to discuss organizational developments, investment strategy and performance/risk.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of capital markets and current knowledge of the state of the industry.
- Excellent written and presentation skills.
- Proficient with common industry tools, including Bloomberg, Fact Set and Morningstar Direct.
- Highly analytical, research-driven skill set.
- Prior experience communicating insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience.
- CFA, progress toward obtaining CFA designation.
- Advanced Degree.
- Network of industry contacts.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior teammates.
